The area is numbed with local anaesthesia so the procedure itself is not painful. Afterwards there is mild discomfort, which is generally well controlled with oral painkillers for a day or two. There is no stitch line to hurt.
It separates on its own once the edge has healed, generally within a couple of weeks. Nothing needs to be pulled or removed, and there is no appointment for suture removal because there are no sutures.
There is no bed rest advised. Most patients with desk jobs return the next day. Your urologist will advise on avoiding heavy physical activity and on when intercourse can resume.
