Newborn care, vaccinations and childhood illness
In short
The pediatric department at Sreshta Multi Speciality Hospitals covers newborn care, routine immunisation, growth and nutrition monitoring, and treatment of childhood illness. Dr. Mrudula Tallapragada, a senior consultant pediatrician with a DNB in Paediatrics and postgraduate training in pediatric nutrition from the United States, leads the department, supported by a neonatal intensive care unit.
Parents bring children in worried about a fever and leave worried about something else entirely, because nobody explained what the fever actually was. We try not to do that. If your child has a viral infection that will settle in three days without antibiotics, you will be told that plainly, along with exactly which signs mean you should come back.
The NICU is on the same floor as the labour room, which sounds like a small detail until you need it. A baby who needs help breathing in the first minutes of life gets that help without being moved between buildings.

01
NICU beside the labour room
Newborns who need support are attended within the same unit. No transfer, no delay, no ambulance ride.
02
Antibiotics only when they are needed
Most childhood fevers are viral. We explain the difference rather than prescribing to end the visit quickly.
03
Vaccination reminders that actually arrive
Your child’s schedule is tracked and you get a message before each due date, so nothing is missed in a busy year.

Questions
Pediatrics, answered
Yes. Our neonatal intensive care unit handles newborns needing monitoring, warmth support, phototherapy for jaundice and respiratory support, with a consultant pediatrician available around the clock.
We follow the Indian Academy of Pediatrics schedule. All vaccines are stored in a monitored cold chain, and your child gets a printed card plus a reminder before each dose is due.
Come immediately for difficulty breathing, a fever in a baby under three months, a child who is unusually drowsy or will not wake properly, a fit or seizure, persistent vomiting with no urine passed for eight hours, or any rash that does not fade when pressed.
